Squishy 120

This squishy came from a boys swap on the yahoo group that I belong to.  I can just picture Kai out doing projects with Ray after looking at this fabric!  I am so excited to be having a boy!  Thank you Jennifer!Wish120 Square120

This fabric is special to me because it came from one of my Freshwater sisters.  Lisa had some fabric left from her 100 wishes quilt that she made for her little one and contributed it to Kai’s quilt.  She does still owe me a wish ;) but I know where to track her down for it.  Thank you Lisa for all of your support and words of encouragement every Tuesday!  I love you guys!

Squishy 118

Becky I LOVE this fabric!  It has found a place in the quilt already!  (Yes it is under construction as I type).  I am just behind in getting all of my squishy posts up.Wish118

I know that I have talked about Kai’s fur sisters before but lately I have been wondering how they are going to hit it off (along with all of my other wonderings).  Will Belle (my first baby) just love all over him like she does everyone else?  Will he be terrified of his new “little sisters”?  Will Coco (my rescue baby) be able to adjust to the HUGE change of a new brother?

Again I know- it is all stuff that we will just have to wait and see when he comes home.  As the time clicks by that we are waiting for TA I can’t help how this brain of mine takes off.Square118 Thank you Becky for the AWESOME fabric!

Squishy 115-117

Wish115-117 This grouping of squishies also came from the boy swap.  One of the rules for the swap is that if you are collecting for multiple quilts (more than one kiddo) you have to send the same number of different fabrics to the people only collecting for one project.  Amy is working on three 100 wishes quilt (bless her) and I started Kai’s project before we knew about peanut, so I am just collecting for his right now.  I sent her 3 pieces of the same fabric with three wishes and she sent back three different pieces- all of which are awesome!Square115 These first two fabrics make me want to go fishing!  If I could catch a fun fish like these who wouldn’t want to try (or at least go snorkeling to look at them).  Half of the fun of going fishing is sitting back and relaxing. This second fabric highlights that very well.  Ok and I have to admit that I love the little hats on the kids.  They are all so different and yet all boy.Square116 This fabric just looks like a boy’s fabric.  It makes me want to start building race tracks in the living room and running cars down them- oh wait do I have to wait for Kai to do that? ;-)Square117

Thank you Amy for all of the awesome fabric!

Squishy 114

Wish114 Square114 This fabric came from a boy fabric swap and I love it!  One of Kai’s early baby shower presents was a pair of rain boots (thank you cousin Regan and Aunt Julie).  I can just see him stomping through mud puddles and chasing bugs.  We even had a small family of bunnies living in our backyard that he could chase after too.  This fabric is very appropriate for our little family!  Thank you Sharon!

Squishy 113

Wish113 Our kiddos will definitely be surrounded by love all their lives.  Some of that love will come from the furry little “siblings” that are already in the house.  We keep trying to guess how the dogs will react to all of the change in the house, but the truth is we will just have to wait and see.  I still think that Kai is going to be their best friend….especially when the high chair comes out.  It will be like an all you can eat buffet for two little Chihuahuas!  Square113 Thank you Nazareth for this bright and beautiful fabric!  I am going to have to recap all of the countries and states that have been incorporated into this large project.  I think it is awesome!

Squishy 112

I love this wish because it is so very true!  We are a family that will be linked by so much more than blood.  We get to love our child because he is a source of joy and light that is beyond words.  We get to love Kai because we made a choice.  We decided to grow our family by love when we were unable to grow our family by the “normal” means.

Adoption really is a beautiful choice and it doesn’t have to be a “second choice” or “last option”.  There are so many beautiful children out there that need a home and parents to love them- for whatever reason.  I have to admit that we felt a strong calling to adopt.  That decision and all of the ones after it have absolutely changed my life for the better.  Even with this crummy wait- I know that when I hold Kai in my arms- all the time will disappear!

Thank you Lidanette for this beautiful wish!Wish112Square112

This square came all the way from New Jersey from Kai’s “extended family” Karen, Billy, Ryan and Tim Devine.  These guys really are our second family!  Thank you very much for sending this awesome fabric Karen!  I am sure that Billy helped pick it out.

I can’t wait for our boys (and peanut) to play together at Disney World!  We have to start planning for next summer!Square111  We are still trying for a last minute October trip, but it all depends on Ray’s job.

Miss you tons!

What little man doesn’t love a little Tinkerbell?  My little man will be so in love with all of the princesses, and why shouldn’t he be?  They are all little hotties ;-)

Thank you Lisa for sending this beautiful fabric!  I am very partial to Tink myself.  This project is really shaping up nicely!  I have even started cutting and arranging fabric to see what it might look like.  It is getting very exciting!  Can’t wait to share the finished project (after I catch up on my squishy posts).

I was so very excited to open up this particular squishy!  I LOVE THE DOGS!!!  It is too perfect.  Kai has two furry sisters here waiting for him (that will get a huge awakening to two new kiddos).  Thank you so very much Lisette!

April's note

April I am so sorry that is has taken me so long to post your squishies!!!!  It has been a tough transition for me since we found out about Bao Bao (the baby).  I will be so glad when the first trimester is over.  Basically picture how tired you feel after getting up for rope drop every day and going strong all day until fireworks- then make it day number 8 on your trip after doing that every day.

THAT is how I feel after walking across the house!  “Little one” takes a lot of energy to grow!  I never would have believed it without experiencing it myself.  With the other pregnancy side effects I am just drained ALL of the time.  BUT on the bright side- I am told that it gets better after the first trimester.

Wish107  Square107 Now on to your fabric!  I know that you noticed me admiring your bag and now I get to use the fabric for Kai’s quilt.  I love it!  I do think that the pledge part of the wish is unique to all of the squishies.

Wish108 Square108

And the bonus squishy from Gryffin is absolutely unique!  We sent a picture of the dogs in his care package flip book so that he will know that he has little dogs waiting for him at home. (And sorry Gryfin- the current babies are dogs- we still love you though ;-)

Squishy 104-106

Square104

Ray'’s mom had fun going shopping for fabric for this project.  She couldn’t decide on one and with so much beautiful fabric- why should she.  The puppy fabric has the little Chihuahua on it that reminded her of our little Belle.Square105

The hot air balloons are just fun and screams fun, vibrant, and happy!

Square106

This fabric is specifically Chinese which is hard to find.  Most of the Asian fabric is Japanese.  I love the little characters!  I already have a couple of different cuts from this piece ready for the quilt!  It will get a couple of prominent locations.

Thanks Mom!

Karen and went to the great little fabric store in Houston together for this piece of fabric.  I had scoped it out the day before with Louann so I had a pretty good idea where to help Karen find what she was looking for.

There were a couple possibilities until Karen spotted this one.  The gold is a metallic shiny gold on the tie dyed blue and purple background.  It is a great representation of Karen’s personality and will make a great contribution to Kai’s quilt.

Thank you Aunt Karen!  smile_teeth

I was able to go shopping with Louann for this fabric and we had a great time.  I was sifting through all of the Asian fabric at this great little fabric store in Houston, and Louann comes around the corner to let me know that she had already found the perfect fabric for her.  I AGREE!

I love the multicultural fabric with all of the different faces and bright colors!  Thank you Louann for the fabric, your friendship, and all of your support! (OK- tell Steve thank you too)

Squishy 101

More Asian inspired fabric and I love it!  I just have to hope that this is not what to expect when we go to the tourist sights- that is one long line ;-)

Thank you for the beautiful fabric Marsha!

SQUISHY 100!

I kind of had to stretch out this post due to the fact that Matt and Sharon mentioned Kai in their wish, but we made it to 100!  The 49 days from referral and PA were the hardest days!  I was so afraid of accidentally slipping and saying something that I wasn’t supposed to, but now, as Ray put it, our mouths are unbound!

Thank you Matt and Sharon for your wish and fabric but also for all of the support!  Congrats on your new little bundle as well! Wish100 Square100

This fabric reminds me of the fun rainbows that are produced from prisms.  When I was with my sister at the Children’s Inn at the NIH facility in Bethesda, they have a window full of prisms that cast rainbows all over the room while the sun is shining.  We loved going into this room to point out all of the colors.  It was a great relaxation and quiet room.

Thank you Bridget!  Square99 Wish99

This fabric will be harder to place for my little guys quilt but I am looking forward to the challenge!  All little one laugh and play hopscotch though right ;) Thank you Sindy!Wish98 Square98

Wish97 Adoption is a special family blessing.  Whenever we have friends, family, and strangers for that matter tell us that whatever child comes into our home will be so lucky- we have to take a pause and remind them that our family would be incomplete without this kiddo coming to join us.  We are the lucky ones by far!

Thank you Sindy for adding this wish/reminder.  We are the lucky ones in this deal!Square97

If this just isn’t the most appropriate fabric for a little boy I don’t know what is!  The soft blue with the dainty little kiddo items just screams boy to me.  I have a good feeling about the placement of this fabric!  Thank you Kristi! Wish96 Square96
